On the edge of Dartmoor
Biddle & Byre began on the edge of Dartmoor, in the middle of our everyday life. Neither of us come from a fashion background but early mornings in the garden, walks across the moor and weekends spent outside, inspired us to create clothes that can be thrown on day after day because they simply work.
The name comes from who we are. Biddle is our family name. Byre is an old English word for a simple agricultural building - practical, unshowy and built to last. The sort of stone buildings scattered across Devon that hold generations of stories within them.
Made for real life
That thinking shaped the brand from the beginning. Nothing overly polished. Nothing designed just to sit online and look good in photographs. Just thoughtful British countrywear made for real life.
The pheasant became our emblem for similar reasons. Around here, they're part of the everyday landscape - spotted crossing lanes, heard in the garden first thing in the morning, appearing unannounced. Over time, they became symbolic of the place we call home.
Made to be worn
The clothes follow the same approach. Colours drawn from the countryside around us. Heavyweight fabrics chosen for comfort and longevity. All of our clothing is made for peaceful morning coffees, pub evenings with friends, quick garden jobs that turn into a whole day, Sunday walks and all the small moments that make up life in the country.
Because good countrywear should be something you can use any time of the day, wherever it takes you. Made to be worn.
